The second game we played today and it included a DICE! *Insert children screaming and cheering* Yes, a dice is THAT exciting! We were subtracting from 9 today and rolled a dice to figure out what number we would subtract from 9! My kiddos all took turns rolling and creating their subtraction problem. I don't have pictures, but we did it as a whole group and I might make it into my next math center!
Hope everyone enjoyed their first day of Spring!
Also, my bloggy friend and real life friend (serious, we teach at the same school!), Irene, from Learning with Mrs. Leeby is hosting her 400 Follower Giveaway! She rocks!
I love, love, love the musical chairs idea! What a super easy way to model subtraction. Have you tried bowling to teach subtraction? I bought a cheap plastic bowling set from Walmart and we use that to subtract. You can choose how many pins you want to use! Kinders love it every year!
ReplyDeleteI haven't! That sounds like a ton of fun! I might have to try that with my kiddos! Thanks for the fabulous idea!
DeleteIf you see Spring send it my way :) I love the musical chairs and dice ideas. My kids flip for any kind of dice game.

Agreed! At least today we had high 30's...we are getting closer!
DeleteGreat idea with musical chairs! We are doing addition right now, so I have to save that idea for later!
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend it! Your kiddos will love it!
DeleteWhy have I never thought of using musical chairs to teach subtraction???? I love it!! Why is that students love dice so much? Same thing happens in my room cheering for dice. They especially love when I bring out my big foam demonstration dice. They LOVE getting a turn to roll those bad boys.....ha!

They will love it! I have no idea why they love them so much! I was so nervous the first time I gave them a dice! But they loved it! My kiddos would go crazy over the big foam dice! I need that!
